Introduction

Getting There & Around
Denver is served by the Denver International Airport, located 23 miles northeast of downtown Denver. The busy and efficient airport handles a large number of both domestic and international flights.
Greyhound run frequent buses on routes along the Front Range and on transcontinental routes. All buses stop at the Denver Bus Terminal just north of the capitol.
Amtrak's California Zephyr runs daily between Chicago and San Francisco (Emeryville) via Denver. Trains arrive and depart from Union Station, at the corner of 17th and Wyncoop Streets. The Ski Train to Winter Park operates on weekends throughout the snow season, also from Union Station.
At the intersection of I-70 and I-25, Denver is pretty hard for drivers to miss.
There are many options when traveling from Denver International Airport to the downtown area. The major hotels offer shuttle services, but reservations are essential. The major car rental companies have offices at the airport. There are also taxis and the local RTD bus service. Once in Denver, the local public transport system is probably the best way to get around the downtown area of the city. The RDT bus service, for example, is clean, efficient and reliable.

The world-class skiing and snowboarding available at several nearby Rocky Mountain resorts are a big part of Denver's winter persona. Powder junkies from around the world descend on Vail each winter, making it the most visited ski vacation resort in the United States. Denver's daytrippers are just as likely to hit nearby Eldora and Loveland for their dose of downhill.
Denver also has impressive collection of museums such as Denver Museum of Nature & Science where visitors can see dinosaur fossils like Stegosaurus stenops (the state fossil), a small-headed, armour-plated vegetarian that roamed the state 150 million years ago. Enormous remains of the Nebraska mammoth and long-jawed mastodon are also on display.
Denver Art Museum houses one of the largest Native American art collections in the world, with work on display from tribes throughout the country.
Larimer Square is on the southwestern edge of the downtown grid where you will find shops, restaurants and nightclubs.
