Getting There & Around
Atlanta's huge Hartsfield International Airport (ATL), 10 miles (16km) from the city, is a major regional hub and international gateway. There are taxis, shuttle buses and vans, rental cars and the MARTA rail system available to get you into town.
There are five Greyhound buses per day to Savannah and eight daily to Chattanooga, Tennessee. For those travelling further afield there are several buses a day to New Orleans, Miami, Washington DC and New York.
Amtrak's Crescent passes through Atlanta daily between New York and New Orleans.
MARTA operates a small but efficient rail system and an extensive bus network in Atlanta and some of the surrounding communities. The rail system has only two major lines (with a couple of branches), but manages to get close to many of the major sites.

Located on 3,300 acres of natural beauty, Stone Mountain Park features a wide variety of fun family activities and things to do in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
CNN Center
The building houses a shopping mall, restaurant and entertainment center as well as the global headquarters of the CNN News Group and Turner Broadcasting. There are regular 45-minute ‘behind the scenes' tours around the broadcasting headquarters.
World of Coca-Cola
A must-see Atlanta attraction, the museum follows the rise in popularity of Coca-Cola from its earliest days to its current place as an international best seller.
Fernbank Museum of Natural History
The largest natural history museum in the south-eastern United States, Atlanta's Fernbank explores the development of life on Earth with the help of displays, interactive exhibits and a six-story high, IMAX movie theater.
Atlanta History Center
The Center celebrates the history of Atlanta through exhibitions such as ‘Metropolitan Frontiers', that describes the lives of the original native population and the events that shaped today's city.
High Museum of Art
Located in an outstanding architectural landmark, this museum displays a collection that includes a growing body of contemporary art, sculpture and decorative arts, five centuries of European painting and sculpture, and tribal African art such as masks and ceremonial figures.
Zoo Atlanta
This extraordinary zoo, one of the oldest in the U.S., underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in the 1980s and is still expanding. Its landscaping replicates the natural habitats of the numerous animals, some of which are endangered species.
Buckhead
Buckhead section of Atlanta is one of the most affluent communities in town, and home to some of the best art galleries, restaurants and nightlife.
